OUR APPROACH

A clear method.
Better-prepared decisions.

Every MSI assignment starts from your actual situation, with a defined scope, clear questions to address and documents designed to be used.

01UnderstandThe real need
02AnalyseThe options
03RecommendA direction
04FormaliseUseful documents
05DecideWith clear information
MSI CONSULTINGUnderstand. Analyse. Recommend. Formalise.
01CLEAR SCOPE

The questions to address are defined before work begins.

02STRUCTURED EXCHANGES

The people involved, stages and planned feedback are known.

03DEFINED DOCUMENTS

You know what will be provided and for what purpose.

THE STARTING POINT

Useful advice starts
with the right questions.

We do not begin with a predetermined solution. We first clarify what needs to be decided, the information available, the constraints to respect and the level of detail genuinely required. The assignment is then adapted to the issue: a focused question, a scoping project or ongoing advisory within a defined scope.

Method does not replace judgement. It makes information, options and trade-offs clearer at the right time.

THE MSI METHOD

From the initial need
to a better-prepared decision.

Five stages structure the assignment. Their depth varies by topic, but the logic remains the same: clarify before recommending, formalise before handing over.

01

Understand the situation and the decision ahead

We start by putting the need in context: objectives, constraints, stakeholders, timing and expected decisions. This helps avoid treating a symptom too quickly instead of the underlying issue.

  • Scoping conversation and key questions
  • Available documents, data and information
  • Scope, objectives and points to clarify
02

Analyse options and key considerations

We review the available information, compare relevant scenarios and make the underlying assumptions explicit. Data limitations and items still requiring confirmation are clearly identified.

  • Scenario analysis and comparison criteria
  • Risks, dependencies and key considerations
  • Assumptions to validate and missing information
03

Recommend a clear direction with a strong rationale

Advisory is not about multiplying possibilities. We prioritise the options and formulate a clear recommendation, including the rationale, conditions for success and the trade-offs that remain yours to make.

  • Recommendation and decision rationale
  • Priorities and trade-offs to prepare
  • Conditions for success and possible alternatives
04

Formalise documents that can be used directly

We turn the analysis into materials suited to their real purpose: scoping note, requirements, roadmap, action plan, selection grid or decision paper. The level of detail is agreed before the assignment.

  • Documents structured for their final use
  • Responsibilities, criteria and next steps
  • Draft version followed by the adjustments included in the proposal
05

Share conclusions and support the decision

We present the conclusions, answer the questions included in the scope and incorporate the agreed adjustments. You retain control of the decision, the budget and the people who will implement it.

  • Clear presentation of conclusions
  • Answers to questions and agreed adjustments
  • Handover of documents and remaining open points
ENGAGEMENT FORMATS

Three formats to fit your needs

The right format depends on the decision to prepare, the level of uncertainty and the level of detail required.

01

Focused assessment and recommendations

To clarify a situation quickly, compare a few options and set priorities.

Discuss this format
02

Scoping assignment and decision documents

To structure a project, formalise requirements and prepare the documents needed for the next stage.

03

Ongoing advisory within a defined scope

To provide a regular external perspective on clearly defined decisions, priorities or adjustments.

A CLEAR WORKING FRAMEWORK

You know where the assignment starts
and where it ends.

01What our work covers

The analysis, discussions, documents and adjustments agreed together at the start of the assignment.

02You remain in control

You retain the decision, the budget, the choice of your teams and providers, and control of implementation.

03We highlight key considerations

We identify assumptions, information gaps, risks and, where necessary, additional validation or specialist input.
